Conceived as a luminous gateway to Downtown Jamaica, the unbuilt hotel lifts a crystalline guest-room tower above a sculpted, fin-clad podium, the two volumes parted by an elevated garden terrace that threads greenery between lower-level and upper-level rooms. Vertical fins and deep mullions give the podium a charcoal texture that nods to the neighborhood’s rail heritage, while floor-to-ceiling low-iron glass animates the tower with shifting reflections from JFK’s flight paths. The soffit beneath the cantilevered tower gleams with brushed metal panels, catching sunset light and visually “floating” the glass volume over the street. After dark, slim LED bands trace every setback, turning the building into a softly glowing beacon for arriving travelers and locals alike.
